Huge Moment for Aussie Christian Music: Vote Now!

The 2025 CMAA People’s Choice Awards are now in full swing, and this year, the spotlight is shining squarely on homegrown talent.

For the first time, all three categories – Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Emerging Artist of the Year – feature only Australian artists.

That’s big news for the local music scene, and it’s got fans and artists alike buzzing with excitement!

And the Finalists Are:

In the Artist of the Year category, we’ve got a star-studded lineup:  Aodhan KingDarlene ZschechJohn NewsomePlanetboom, and Taya.

For Song of the Year, there’s a great mix of soul-stirring and powerful tracks:  Did Ya Don’t Worry from Justin MichaelGonna Be Good by TayaPraise Belongs by CXMMXNS, Unsung Hero by For King & Country, and Without You by Aodhan King.

And in Emerging Artist of the Year – some incredible fresh voices to watch:  Ethan BeerKate WestwoodRevolution WorshipTania G, and Tekoa.

John Newsome – a finalist for Artist Of The Year says that this isn’t just an awards poll – it’s a moment to celebrate creativity, faith, and the growing influence of Australian Christian music, both here and around the world.

John says, “I didn’t expect this! There are so many amazing artists whose impact is recognised all over Australia and I have such love and respect for. Super grateful for the work that Christian Media and Arts Australia do to promote Aussie Christian Artists, especially independent artists like my own.”

Kate Westwood – a finalist for Emerging Artist of the Year – says the People’s Choice Awards connect listeners directly with the artists they love, offering a platform to support new talent and honour those who’ve made a lasting impact.

Kate says, “I’m so stoked – honestly it means so much! It’s a huge encouragement to know that what I’m creating is resonating beyond just my circle and my community. And wow, to be nominated alongside such amazing artists… so blessed… so honoured – thank you so much!”
