Aren’t All Religions the Same?
By: Sam Chan
My brother and I are Chinese-Australian.
We both played in the same rugby team at school.
And people thought we were amazing. “Who is this Chinese player? He’s everywhere!”
That’s because they didn’t know there were two of us. They thought we were the same player.
Why? Because … if I’m allowed to say it …”all Chinese look the same!”
But of course I’m not allowed to say it because all Chinese don’t look the same. If we got to know a Chinese person, we realise they’re not the same.
But we do that when we say all religions are the same. On the surface they look the same. But once we get to know them, we realise they’re different.
If we get to know Jesus deeply – we realise he is not the same. He loves us so much he died for us. That’s unique. That’s different. And unlike my brother and I, he really is everywhere.
He also would’ve been better at rugby. Why?
Because he would’ve had more … conversions!
(Boom! Tish! Thank you, I will be here all week)
